The Sacred Hunt: Hunting as a Sacred Path

This 90-minute film took nearly three years to produce, filmed from South Africa to Alaska. It was the first documentary to examine the spiritual dimension of hunting. Released in fall 1997, it received reviews in over 150 newspapers and magazines internationally. It became the top-selling documentary on hunting and earned 11 awards and honors. Dr. Eaton produced, directed, and wrote the film. Eighteen hunter-conservation organizations and wildlife agencies sponsored it. It aired widely on cable and community television stations across North America.

The Sacred Hunt II: Rite of Passage

Released in 1998, this follow-up received Honorable Mention at the 1999 North American Outdoor Film/Video Awards. It won First Place at the annual conventions of the Texas Outdoor Writers Association and Florida Outdoor Writers Association. Dr. Eaton produced, directed, and wrote the film.

Orca: The Sacred Whale

This documentary is based on Dr. Eaton’s 20-year study of orca whales. It includes in-depth coverage of Kwakiutl mythopoetics and cosmology related to orcas. The film aired on the Wisdom Channel, reaching 11 million subscribers. It received First Place in Natural History Broadcasts from the Outdoor Writers Association of America in 2000. Dr. Eaton co-produced and wrote the film. The home video version was released in January 2000.

Respect and Responsibility: The Truth About Kids Who Hunt

Released in 2004, this 47-minute documentary explores how hunting shapes youth behavior, responsibility, and values. Dr. Eaton produced the film.

Killer Whales and the Orca Project

This segment appeared on Eco News, an award-winning television series carried by 120 PBS and cable stations. Dr. Eaton produced and wrote the segment in 1994. It continued to air in repeats.

Segment on Cats for “Animals, Animals, Animals”

In 1977, Dr. Eaton co-produced a segment on wild cats for Animals, Animals, Animals, an ABC TV News award-winning educational series for young audiences. The segment ran for 28 minutes and continued in syndication.
